Diving Center Maria La Gorda Maria la Gorda
Peninsula de Guanahacabibes, Sandino, Pinar del Rio, Cuba.
Located in the Reserve of the Biosphere Guanahacabibes in western Cuba, is the International Diving Center Maria La Gorda, where divers can enjoy crystal clear and warm waters with temperatures averaging between 24 and 30 degrees Celsius depending on the time of year. The hotel is named after Maria La Gorda, an aboriginal woman from Venezuela who was allegedly abducted by pirates and left in this remote part of Cuba.
Experts believe that Maria la Gorda funds are among the top ten dive sites in Latin America, because of its abundant marine life and extraordinarily beautiful corals. This explains why the Hotel Maria la Gorda is oriented mainly to dive, ready to dive investors and specialists at all levels. More than 39 dive sites, unprecedented visibility and a show of world-class seabed make this place one of the most popular diving spots in Cuba. Each dive site has its particular characteristics, but all are located relatively close to the coast, allowing to do two dives a day if desired.
The International Diving Center Maria La Gorda offers 55 comfortable cabins with air conditioning, including two restaurants and a bar, laundry service, a dive shop, scuba gear, bicycle and car rental. In the morning we suggest exploring El Cabezon de Ludo, El Salon de Maria, El Almirante y Yemaya, while the afternoon is more appropriate to visit the Aquarium, El Ancla de Francois and El Jardin de la Gorgonia. Non-divers can fish, to go boating, enjoy the natural surroundings and of course enjoy the beach and sun.... continue
